ACDE’s Accord on the Internationalization of Education

ACDE launched its Accord on the Internationalization on May 25th, 2014, at Brock University during the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. The event was co-sponsored by ACDE, the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE), and the Comparative and International Education Society of Canada (CIESC). Financial support was provided by the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, International Speaker Fund. The Plenary Speaker was Carlos Alberto Torres, Director of the Paulo Freire Institute, Associate Dean for Global Programs, and faculty member of the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA. He was also the president of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES). Dr. Torres’ talk, entitled “Global citizenship education: Hyperglobalist, skeptic, and transformationist agendas,” was followed by the signing of the Accord and a reception.

The Accord was authored by Dr. Kris Magnusson, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.
